About the Practitioner

Maryrose Dolezal, GSP, M.A., Certified ABMP Practitioner

Maryrose Dolezal practices somatic movement, bodywork, and massage therapy, supporting clients on their healing journeys and working to transform social injustice through a community based practice. Maryrose is an ABMP Certified Practitioner, having completed a masters level course in Global Somatics, and practices with The Tree and the Well, Institute for Deep Cultural Studies, an incubated project of the Cultural Wellness Center. She recently founded Q20, an embodiment based support group for people in their 20s who are questioning gender identity and sexual orientation in relationship to body-mind wellbeing, and is a volunteer with RECLAIM, an agency increasing lgbtq youth access to mental health support. She is active in national work on racial and economic justice & cultural wellness, chairing the boards of directors of Common Fire Foundation and smartMeme. Her history includes directing national youth and nonviolence training programs with the Fellowship of Reconciliation from 2001-2009, and teaching courses in conflict studies, women’s studies, and anthropology as an adjunct faculty at Hamline University, where she completed her MA in Nonprofit Management in 2007 with a thesis on critical multicultural change in nonprofit organizations.  Maryrose lives with her partner in St. Paul, MN.

Degrees, Training and Experience:

  • Certified Global Somatics™ Practitioner, Green River Dance for Global Somatics

-1452 hour, masters level program in Somatics, providing training in repatterning the Natural Body through movement education & therapy, intentional touch, resonance, & sound. (2011)

  • M.A. in Nonprofit Management, Hamline University

-Masters Thesis on Critical Multicultural Change in Nonprofit Organizations (2007);

-Fifteen years experience working with personal and community trauma in young adults, refugees, veterans, and other leaders in social justice movements. (1997-current)

-An incubated project of the Cultural Wellness Center, whose mission is to unleash the power of citizens to heal themselves and to build community. (2011- current)

  • Founder & Project Co-Coordinator, Q20: Embodied Support Circles

-Q20 is a bodywork based support group for queer people in their 20s. Our project mission is to support people in an embodied process of questioning, coming out, and building queer community in the Twin Cities. (2010- current)

  • Apprenticeship in Chakra Healing Massage, Bogota, Colombia

-80 hour training in use of essential oils, energy work, and massage to support clients’ capacity for self-healing. (2009)
